Baramulla, Jun 22 (KNO): An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said here on Saturday evening. The gunfight started when security forces launched a search operation in Bajrang-Uri sector following specific information about the presence of some infiltrating terrorists, the officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). They said the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security personnel, who retaliated, thereby triggering a gunfight. Meanwhile, the Army's Chinar Corps, in a post on 'X', said: "Based on specific intelligence inputs, an anti infiltration Operation was launched in the Uri Sector. Contact was established with infiltrating terrorists and operations are in progress.” On June 19, two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed while two security personnel were injured in an encounter that broke out in the Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. On 17 June, a local terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Aragam Bandipora—(KNO)
